BOUNDARIES TRAINING
With Sexual Harassment and Child Protection Training included We are very out of compliance with our Boundaries Training. This is serious business, friends! We must take this once every three years!
The Book of Order references the need for these three trainings for all Ministers of Word and Sacrament (G-3.0106), Commissioned Pastors (G-2.1002), Certified Christian Educators (G-2.1103), inquirers and candidates (G-2.0603), and Elders serving on presbytery commissions and committees (G-3.0106). Nothing mentions that retired clergy get a “pass” on this.
This will be an IN-PERSON workshop at Overbrook Presbyterian Church (4131 N High St, Columbus 43214) on January 30, 2024, with morning refreshments and lunch provided. Please pre-register so we can plan accordingly for food and beverage. (If we need to reschedule due to weather, the reschedule date is February 12.) Doors open at 9 a.m. and the program begins at 10 a.m. promptly. The program will end around 3:30 p.m. If you have specific dietary requirements, let me know.
Our Boundaries Training leader, Michelle Snyder, MDiv LCSW, is the managing consultant of Crows Feet Consulting. She is an amazing workshop leader. I have attended her Boundaries Training previously, and it was worth the time!
If you cannot be present at this in-person workshop, the Synod will be offering three online workshops through the course of the year (one a Saturday, one a daytime, and one will be two evenings). You will need to avail yourself of these this year so we can end 2024 all caught up and then focus on the session elders.
