Matthew 25 Resources

The Presbytery of Scioto Valley is a Matthew 25 Mid Council

We invite your church to join us as a Matthew 25 Congregation!

The Matthew 25 invitation is a bold vision of the Presbyterian Mission Agency that offers an invitation to all churches and councils throughout the PC(USA). Matthew 25:31–46 calls all of us to actively engage in the world around us, so our faith comes alive and we wake up to new possibilities. Convicted by this passage, both the 222nd and 223rd General Assemblies (2016 and 2018) exhorted the PC(USA) to act boldly and compassionately to serve people who are hungry, oppressed, imprisoned or poor.

What resources are available?

Many resources are available at pcusa.org/matthew25. In addition, the Commission on Nurture and Outreach (CNO) from our presbytery will offer speakers and workshops to help congregations along the journey. CNO has put together resources on each of the three focuses, which will be updated regularly.

How does the vision unite Presbyterians?

By accepting the Matthew 25 invitation, you can help our denomination become a more relevant presence in the world. We recognize Christ’s urgent call to be a church of action, where God’s love, justice and mercy shine forth and are contagious. And we rejoice how our re-energized faith can unite all Presbyterians for a common and holy purpose: our common identity to do mission.

Matthew 25 Video Worship Service available now!

A complete video worship service focused on Matthew 25 is now available for any congregation to use on any Sunday they might choose. This Matthew 25 worship service was created with the help of persons from 18 of our congregations, our synod Executive Chip Hardwick, and our General Assembly colleague, Chris Roseland. The many and diverse videos were beautifully put together by Elder Dirwin Clemans from our New Albany Rose Run Presbyterian Church. This service can be downloaded from the Presbytery FACEBOOK page, or through the link: Click here to view Matthew 25 Service.

How do we become a Matthew 25 congregation?

The first step is simply to sign up to become a Matthew 25 church or mid council at pcusa.org/matthew25. When you sign up, you will be asked to embrace one or more of the three areas of focus. Many churches are already doing the work of Matthew 25. We hope that by becoming a Matthew 25 mid-council and partnering with congregations, we can together multiply and intensify our loving commitment to radical and fearless discipleship.

How do I find out more information?

Multiple resources are available on the denomination’s website here. In addition, Matthew 25 Ambassadors from our presbytery are available to talk to your session, congregation or other interested groups in your church. Contact the presbytery office.
