News from the Westside Urban Ministry (WUM) WINTER JACKETS IN THE SPRING???

As you get out your spring gear, and put away your winter wear, remember the Presbytery’s Westside Urban Ministry (WUM) collects new and gently-used children’s jackets.  WUM collects these, and then sorts and distributes them in early winter to the nurses and counselors at schools on Columbus’s West side.   Last year WUM distributed over 800 jackets, thanks to your generous support!   Our goal is 1,000 coats/jackets for the 2019 winter season!  Questions or need jackets picked up?  Contact Connie Jump of the Overbrook Presbyterian Church at [email protected].

WUM HOSTS COMMUNITY MEETING LISTENING SESSION WITH COLUMBUS CITY SCHOOLS SUPERINTENDENT… Dr. Talisa Dixon, Columbus City Schools’ new Superintendent, has launched her “Mapping our Success 100-Day Plan” to identify both the successes and challenges within Ohio’s largest school district. Her next listening session will be hosted by the Presbytery of Scioto Valley’s Westside Urban Ministry and Hoge Memorial PC. This gathering is designed to give families, neighborhood partners, and community members an opportunity to hear about successful partnerships in action and receive feedback related to the future of schools in the area.  The listening session will be held on Wednesday, May 22 at the Hoge Memorial Presbyterian Church from 5:30 -7 pm.
